Iris reticulata bulbs should be planted outdoors in October and November in a sunny position in moist, free draining soil. The bulbs should be planted with the pointed end facing upwards at a depth of 10-15cm, and position them around 10-15cm apart from each other. Dwarf irises are most eye-catching when planted in large groups or drifts running through borders or rockeries, but they also make fantastic compact plants for growing in patio containers where they can be admired close up.
