This Völkel 'Tap and Die Set' is of the highest quality, manufactured from High Speed Steel, and covers the most popular metric thread sizes M3-M12. The actual sizes that this set covers are: 3mm x 0.5, 4mm x 0.7, 5mm x 0.8, 6mm x 1.0, 8mm x 1.25, 10mm x 1.5 and 12mm x 1.75. These are metric course (standard) thread sizes. This set is for making right handed threads. This Völkel Tap & Die Set includes a High Speed Steel (HSS) tap set of 3 and 1 circular die per size listed above. Also included is the required adjustable bar type tap wrench and diestock to drive the taps and dies in the set by hand. In addition, a ratchet wrench is supplied (for use with 3mm to 10mm taps), as well as a handy metric pitch gauge and screwdriver. The tap sets of 3 are manufactured from high quality High Speed Steel (HSS), conform to DIN 352 and the threads have been precision ground. Each set of 3 taps comprises of x1 Taper tap (also known as the 'first' tap), x1 Second tap (also known as the 'intermediate' tap) and x1 Plug tap (also known as the 'bottoming' or 'third' tap). These DIN taps are full form which means that they will cut full threads. The High Speed Steel circular dies are manufactured to DIN 223 and are supplied solid. The dies are all on a 25 x 9mm outside diameter. The adjustable bar type tap wrench fits all the taps in the set. It has steel handles and a zinc diecast body. The diestock is 25 x 9mm and fits all the dies included in the set. This is manufactured from zinc diecast. Supplied in a strong metal index case with lift-up lid. In addition, the metal case is supplied in an outer Völkel carton for added protection.
