Using the 1/4" hexagon shank Quick Change system, Völkel has produced an innovate M3-M10 HSS Tap and Drill index set for cutting threads using a battery powered screwdriver drill or electric hand drill. All the tools have a 1/4" hexagon shank which means that, with the 1/4" hex shank adaptor included, the user can swap the tool bits very quickly and easily. This set covers the popular metric threads - 3mm x 0.5, 4mm x 0.7, 5mm x 0.8, 6mm x 1.0, 8mm x 1.25 and 10mm x 1.5. These are metric course (standard) thread sizes. This set is for making right handed threads. There is one tap per size and this is supplied as a 'second' or 'intermediate' lead. The threading bits are manufactured from high speed steel (HSS) and the threads have been precision ground. Also, the required tapping size drills are included, again on a 1/4" hex shank for quick tool changeovers. The drill bit sizes included are - 2.5mm, 3.3mm, 4.2mm, 5.0mm, 6.8mm and 8.5mm. The drills are manufactured from High Speed Steel (HSS) and are flute ground. They have split points for more accurate starting. The Völkel drill bits are for use in battery powered screwdriver drills and electric hand drills. Völkel threading bits have been designed for thread cutting using battery powered screwdriver drills and electric hand drills, but they are also suitable for thread cutting by hand or in a stationary drilling machine. Your battery powered screwdriver drill should have a minimum power of 7.5 volts - it should be used on the LOWEST SPEED setting (0 - 450 rpm) and on the HIGHEST TORQUE setting. Take care that the tool and the axis of the hole are exactly aligned and use a suitable cutting oil or lubricant. The set is supplied in a robust plastic case.
