Large Moroccan Terracotta Tagine Cooking Pot | Hand-thrown & Hand-painted | Serves 4-6 | 32cm | Lead Free Certified | Authentic Tradional Pottery | Pattern May Vary
About this item
- **HAND-THROWN IN TANGIER, MOROCCO** — Made in the traditional potteries of Tangier by skilled craftspeople. Each tagine is individually hand-thrown on a wheel and hand-painted by hand — no two are identical. Minor variations in glaze, pattern and finish are a natural feature of authentic handmade pottery, not a fault.
- **SLOW COOK THE MOROCCAN WAY** — The terracotta construction circulates steam during cooking, locking in moisture and flavour without excess liquid. Ideal for slow-cooked tagines, stews and casseroles for 4-6 people. Use in the oven at 130-150C for tender, melt-in-the-mouth results. Maximum oven temperature 170C.
- **HOB COMPATIBLE WITH HEAT DIFFUSER** — Suitable for use on gas and electric hobs with a heat diffuser or simmer ring to distribute heat evenly. Not suitable for ceramic hobs. Not microwave safe. Hand wash only — not dishwasher safe.
- **CERTIFIED LEAD FREE** — Fully tested and certified lead free. Safe for everyday cooking and food preparation. Sold as a complete set — conical lid and base included. Diameter 32cm. Height 20-23cm. Ideal for family meals and entertaining.
- **PATTERN VARIES — EACH PIECE IS UNIQUE** — As every tagine is hand-painted individually in Tangier, the pattern you receive will be from our current collection. It will be similar in style to those pictured but unique to your piece. This is the nature of authentic handmade Moroccan pottery — you will receive a one-of-a-kind item.
Product description
**Feed the whole table — the Moroccan way.** This large terracotta tagine is made in the traditional potteries of Tangier, Morocco — the same workshops that supply the local souk and the households of the city. At 32cm diameter it comfortably serves 4-6 people, making it ideal for family meals, dinner parties and everything in between. Each tagine is hand-thrown on a wheel and hand-painted by skilled craftspeople, making every piece genuinely one of a kind. The conical lid is the secret to great tagine cooking — as steam rises during cooking it condenses on the inside of the lid and falls back into the dish, keeping meat, fish and vegetables tender and deeply flavoured without the need for excess liquid or stock. **How to cook with your tagine:** For best results, use in a conventional oven at 130-150C. On gas or electric hobs, always place a heat diffuser or simmer ring between the tagine and the heat source to distribute heat evenly and protect the terracotta. Start on a low heat and increase gradually — never place a cold tagine directly onto high heat. Not suitable for ceramic hobs. Not microwave safe. **Caring for your tagine:** Hand wash only with warm water and mild soap. Do not use the dishwasher. Dry thoroughly before storing. With proper care your tagine will last for years. **Please note — pattern variation:** As every tagine is entirely hand-made and hand-painted in Tangier, the pattern you receive will be similar in style to those pictured but not necessarily identical. Each piece is unique — this is not a fault but the nature of authentic handmade Moroccan pottery. Minor chips to the base or lid edge are also a natural feature of hand-thrown pottery made in the traditional way and do not affect cooking performance. Certified lead free. Diameter: 32cm. Height: 20-23cm. Sold as base and lid.

I wrote to Bigamart's customer support and they accompanied the process of reshipping the item until it finally arrived. I felt a genuine effort to solve the problem till it was finally solved.
The package was here in Australia from England in a few days — so quick! Something was missing and they refunded it straight away. Pretty happy with these guys.
