The Lantern 10-Sided Tankard was one of the earliest pressed beer serving mugs and was Britain’s beer glass of choice from the 1920’s all the way through to the 1960’s. Having replaced pewter and pottery drinking vessels as the standard serving mug, the Lantern 10-Sided Tankard also had a marked impact on the quality of the beer served in the pubs of this era. Brewers had to work harder to ensure their beer had greater clarity which was now visible through the glass vessel, while the crafty landlord could no longer sell customers short measures and get away with it! The Lantern Tankard’s huge popularity between the wars and through to the 1960s was due in part to its ability to enhance the flavour of its contents, but also to its thoughtful, elegant design. Although the Lantern is marginally heavier than its Dimpled rival, it actually feels lighter and better balanced due to its superior proportions and weight distribution. This modern but faithful recreation of the forgotten British classic features ten elegant panels, an ergonomic handle and superb weight distribution... The Lantern Tankard has been reborn.
