Cane Soft Spiles 38mm Pack of 100 Porous Wood Cask Ale Venting Pegs

• Soft porous cane spiles, 38mm, for venting cask ale after stillaging; they fit the tut hole in a standard shive
• Air escapes through the cane while the cask conditions, then a hard spile goes in once the beer stops working

Cane soft spiles, 38mm, pack of 100. Push one into the tut hole of the shive after the cask has settled on the stillage. The cane is porous, so the cask can breathe while the beer conditions and drops bright. When the beer stops working, take the soft spile out and put a hard spile in to hold the condition. Each soft spile is used once. A pub on three or four casks a week gets through about 50 a month, so a pack of 100 lasts about two months. Also used by breweries, beer festivals, micropubs and homebrewers with their own casks. Supplied as two sealed bags of 50; keep them dry.
