SHPELEC 16mm² twin and earth cable (6242Y) for high-load domestic and commercial fixed wiring. Grey PVC sheathed flat cable with two solid copper conductors and a bare circuit protective conductor (CPC) earth, manufactured to BS 6004 and rated 300/500V. 16mm² is the gauge specified for heavy-current final circuits such as electric shower supplies, cooker circuits, consumer unit tails and sub-main runs where smaller cable would be undersized. Supplied cut fresh to length from the roll as one continuous 2 metre length — no joins. Cable must be selected and installed by a qualified electrician in accordance with BS 7671 wiring regulations, with the correct protective device and due allowance for installation method, grouping and ambient temperature.
