About this item
- Authentic Borlotto Variety: A traditional dwarf borlotto bean from Northern Italy, producing beautifully streaked pink-and-cream pods packed with rich, hearty flavour.
- High Yielding Compact Bush Plants: Forms sturdy 50–55 cm plants with a productive bushy habit—ideal for UK gardens, raised beds, and smaller growing spaces.
- Versatile Pods for Cooking & Storing: Cylindrical pods with white/yellow flesh streaked in red—perfect for fresh use, drying, freezing, or adding to classic bean dishes. Perfect for recipes like Paniscia (Piedmont risotto-soup), bean salads with olive oil and Tropea onion, and Italian-style baked beans. SEEDS: 40 Approx.
- Easy to Grow: Sow Borlotto Bean ‘Saluggia’ outdoors from April to July, placing seeds 2 cm deep in warm, well-drained soil. Plants form compact 50–55 cm bushes that grow quickly and crop reliably through summer. Keep the soil moist, weed lightly, and support only if needed. Harvest from July to October when pods show their red-and-cream streaking—use fresh, or dry the beans for long-term storage.
- Seed Quality: Produced by a historic Italian seed house with over 240 years of excellence. Seeds are packed in protective, recyclable packets to preserve freshness and germination quality – bringing authentic Italian growing to your garden.
