- LEEK CARENTAN 3 ORGANIC SEEDS: Organically grown leek seed, this hardy autumn to winter variety produces thick white stems with a delicious flavour, perfect for soups and stews.
- SOW: January to April, HARVEST: October to February, SEEDS: 400 Approx.
- FOR INDOOR SOWING: WHEN – January to February. WHERE - In trays of seed compost. HOW - Sow thinly, cover with 1.5cm of compost. Keep moist. Keep at approx. 15°C. Seedlings appear in 14-21 days. CARE - When large enough transplant 5cm apart in trays. Stand outside for a few days late May (avoid frosts). When 10cm tall transplant into holes 15cm apart with 30cm between rows. Earth up the stems in autumn for extra whiteness. HARVEST – October to January.
- FOR OUTDOOR SOWING: WHEN – March to April. WHERE - In a prepared seed bed. HOW - Sow thinly in rows 20cm apart. Cover with 1.5cm of fine soil. CARE - When 10cm tall transplant to growing position in holes 15cm apart with 30cm between rows. Earth up the stems in autumn for extra whiteness. HARVEST – November to February.
