• Velvet was traditionally made from silk, and now often made from cotton or synthetics, sometimes with elastane for stretch. Variations include crushed velvet, which creates a light-and-shadow effect, panne velvet with a continuous sheen, and burnout velvet, which has semi-transparent patterns from a chemical process.
• This is a lovely medium weight fabric ideal for dressmaking. This fabric is available in a great variety of colours and weighs approximately 230 grams per square metre.
• Suggested Washing Instructions: 40 degrees. Please allow 10% shrinkage for all fabrics to be on the safe side and always test a sample first to find the most suitable way to wash your chosen fabrics.
• Approx Width: 150cm / 60" - Our fabrics are cut off the roll and will always be sent in one continuous length. If for any reason we cannot send your fabric in one piece we will contact you to discuss the options.
• For all fabrics we advise washing before making up in the same manner as you would with subsequent washes (including drying methods) to remove any shrinkage
