What length should the granite holder be? Typically, the heavy duty L bracket is the same length as the overhang. If the overhang is 12 inches, the length of the bracket should include the width of the knee high wall. In most cases, the knee wall is 4 inches wide. The overhang plus the knee high wall = 16 inches. Granite brackets should be removed 3-4 inches from the edge of the granite slab to ensure they are not visible. So - 16" - 4" = 12" staples. If your knee high wall consists of 2x6s, then make sure to adjust your size to accommodate the extra 2 inches.
