This is an unusual house plant which looks great in a hanging basket. Aeschynanthus ‘Twister’ is also known as the ‘lipstick’ plant because of its scarlet red flowers that look rather like lipsticks, especialy when they first appear. The foliage is curling and it cascades from the pot, making an ideal plant for a shelf or hanging basket. Light conditions: Position in a spot with indirect, bright light. Bright light will encourage the plant to produce flowers Neediness: relatively low maintenance but will need to be kept warm. Watering: during warmer weather ensure soil is kept moist but not soggy. In the cooler months allow the soil to dry out slightly between waterings. Enjoys humidity so mist regularly. Ideal location: living rooms, studies, bedrooms, bathrooms and kitchens. Rate of growth: fast growing. Temperature: normal room temperature and not below 13c at night. Pets: this plant is safe around pets.
