Product description
Screw thread clamps with a 9 to 12 mm wide stainless steel metal band. All parts of the clamp are made of stainless steel. Perforated metal bands are not reliable Low quality hose clamps have metal bands with continuous perforation. The screw threads of the adjusting screw grip into the individual oblique-oval elongated holes of the perforation. Since the perforation of the metal band greatly minimises the mechanical strength of these hose clamps, we do NOT offer this supposedly cheap variant in our range. Chrome-plated clamping screws are not suitable Some suppliers keep the stainless steel screw and instead provide a cheaper, chrome-plated screw set. The difference is not easily seen at first glance. Unfortunately, contact corrosion occurs repeatedly in this context (according to DIN EN ISO 8044, this is corrosion caused by an electrochemical reaction between two metallic materials or other electron-conducting solids). In practice, the thread of the chrome-plated screw corrodes at the point where it comes into contact with the stainless steel band. The pipe clamp loosens because the thread is no longer positively connected to the clamp band. This can lead to water damage and similar accidents. If you are looking for a reliable hose clamp, make sure that the metal band of the clamp is not perforated and that the entire hose clamp including the tensioning screw is made of high-quality stainless steel. With a magnet you can check yourself whether the screw is made of stainless steel or not. If the screw is strongly magnetic, then it is a galvanised iron screw. If the screw is not magnetic, then it is most likely stainless steel.
