Vanfook SW-21F Experthook Wide Gape Trout Single Hooks, Versatile Hook for Spoons, Crankbaits & Minnows, Fine Wire Fusso Black PTFE Anti-Rust, Size 8, Pack of 16, Japanese

• WIDE GAPE FOR TROUT AREA FISHING — 'Touch it, hook it' is Vanfook's own slogan for this hook: the wide gape lets the point find a hold somewhere in the mouth the moment a fish touches the lure, hooking up automatically — no hard strike needed — on the tentative takes common in UK still-water and stockie fisheries. The gape is deliberately kept not overly wide, so the hook stays pinned once it is in.
• FINE WIRE, LIGHT LURE FRIENDLY — Slim-gauge wire adds almost no weight, so ultra-light (UL) lures keep the action they were designed with — Vanfook's own lure chart matches this hook to spoons as light as 0.9 g. The shank is pressed flat, giving what Vanfook calls unprecedented strength for a fine-wire wide-gape hook, so it resists opening under load.
• FUSSO BLACK PTFE COATING — Polytetrafluoroethylene anti-rust coating keeps hooks serviceable across multiple sessions in freshwater; the matt black finish avoids flash that could spook wary stocked rainbow trout in clear still-waters.
• PACK OF 16, SIZES 6–9 — 16 hooks per pack; available in Size 6, 7, 8, and 9. Size 8 is the most-matched size in Vanfook's own lure chart — 0.9–1.2 g spoons and 26–30 mm micro plugs — and the size Vanfook's field staff switch to when bites turn faint.
• VANFOOK JAPANESE PRECISION — Made in Japan by Vanfook, a specialist hook maker in Nishiwaki, Hyogo, with hook-making roots in Japan's Edo period; hooks go through visual form inspections, testing on a dedicated strength tester and a final human-eye inspection before shipment — the standard demanded by Japanese competitive area-trout anglers.

Stocked trout on hard-fished UK stillwaters often nip at a small spoon without turning on it, and those are the takes that usually go unconverted. The SW-21F is built for exactly that bite. Vanfook's slogan for this hook is 'Touch it, hook it': because the gape is wide, the point finds a hold somewhere in the mouth the moment a fish touches the lure, and the hook sets automatically without a hard strike. The design grew out of Vanfook's spoon-dedicated SP series and keeps its no-quirks ease of use, but where the SP series asks for a deliberate hook-set, the SW-21F hooks through its initial contact. It is at its best when bites are fast, fish do not turn and mouths never quite close. It is not only a spoon hook either: Vanfook also lists rising and floating minnows in the Magic Jerk style and bottom lures for it. The gape is deliberately not overly wide - Vanfook's own design note - so the hook also holds well once it is in. The shank is pressed flat to raise its strength, which is how a fine-wire wide-gape hook resists being opened up under load. Fine Wire is Vanfook's own name for this model's wire class: it adds almost no weight, so an ultra-light spoon keeps the action it was designed with. The Fusso Black PTFE coating scores the maximum 10 out of 10 on Vanfook's own rust-resistance gauge, and the matt black finish avoids flash in clear water. Size 8 is the most-matched size in Vanfook's own lure chart: spoons of 0.9-1.2 g and micro plugs of 26-30 mm. It is also the size Vanfook's field staff switch to when bites turn faint, to convert missed nips into solid catches. Also available in sizes 6, 7 and 9. Made in Japan by Vanfook, a Nishiwaki, Hyogo hook maker whose hook-making roots go back to Japan's Edo period, and supplied as a pack of 16. Hooks go through visual form inspections, testing on a dedicated strength tester and a final human-eye inspection before shipment.
