Description Medieval ‘Bent’ tunic with removable sleeces in brown/black Our knee length cotton tunic is made from plain weave fabric. Contrasting details in sturdy canvas fabric (cotton). Its elaborate design indicates that it is intended to be worn as an over garment. Lacing cords on the shoulders mean that the tunic can be worn with or without sleeves. The ends of the cords are finished with brass aglets. This makes it much easier to thread in the cords. The round neckline has a slit in the centre front which can be closed with a cord finished with aglets. The upper part of the tunic is straight-cut, whereas the lower part is flared due to gores (triangular panels) inserted in the sides and middle. Large decorative stitches lend the tunic a handmade look. The included canvas belt with decorative stitching is extra long and can be worn wrapped twice around the waist. This medieval garment is loosely based on a medieval tunic. The cut is based on archaeological findings discovered in Skjoldehamn and Kragelund which date back to the High Middle Ages. Removable sleeves were popular in the Middle Ages as they could be washed separately from the rest of the garment and provided more possible styles. However, these date back to the Late Middle Ages.
