Chafer Grub larvae can cause serious damage to lawns through tunnelling activity, killing roots and causing yellowing of the turf, which begins to feel spongy underfoot. Grubs tend to cause significant damage from Autumn to Spring by which time the larvae are becoming fully grown. When to use Trapping season: Place traps in a lawn area in May and continue trapping through June. It should be noted that the exact time of insect emergence will vary with location and season. How to use Trap placement and density for monitoring: The trap should be placed in lawn areas and hung 50-100cm above ground level. One trap will cover up to 2000sq.m or half an acre. Use of lures: Keep lure in sealed packet until needed. Do not open or pierce the the capsule.. Place it in the cage. Dispose of the sachet and used lures well away from the trapping area. Trap servicing and change of lures: Add water to a depth of 5cm with a drop of detergent into the trap bucket. The attractant will remain active for 6 weeks. Traps should be emptied as needed.
