With their range of acrylic media - the widest on the market - Liquitex allows artists to give free rein to their creativity at all stages of their work. As indicated by their name, Liquitex fluid mediums are offered in liquid form. They reduce the viscosity of paint and thick gels. Favouring a smooth finish, they reduce brushstrokes. Liquitex fluid mediums modify characteristics of paint in different ways. The presence of acrylic resin in their formula favours or enhances adhesion and resistance of the topcoat. Liquitex matte gel is translucent with a satin/matte effect once dry. The viscosity and consistency is similar to that of the fine art Liquitex Heavy Body colours. Translucent while wet, transparent once dry. Application in thick layers diminishes transparency once dry. Mix with a fine art Liquitex Heavy Body colour to obtain a depth of colour similar to that of oil paint. The mixed colours take on a satin effect once dry. APPLICATION: As a topcoat: mix with a fine art Liquitex Heavy Body colour to enhance volume and translucence, while preserving viscosity. Mix with a fine art Liquitex Soft Body colour to enhance volume and translucence, while enhancing viscosity. As a basecoat: Application of a transparent basecoat offers a perfect texture and adhesion under acrylic paint which advantageously replaces gesso. In this way the colour and texture of the basecoat remains partially visible. May replace the hide glue generally used in oil painting. Wash cotton and linen canvases before using to avoid any discolouration. Exterior painting: If the base or the wall is very rough, the Liquitex Matte medium may be applied with brush or cloth before applying gesso. For impasto techniques: Mix with Liquitex Heavy Body acrylic colour to create impasto with a matte effect once dry.
