Young spring foliage emerges red-flamed, slowly evolving through shades of pink and cream, before reaching a glossy green for summer. Plus, in late spring you'll be treated to an impressive dusting of creamy, bell-shaped flowers, which gather in clusters. These blooms closely resemble those of 'Lily of the Valley', holding firm for an impressive display for several weeks. Pieris are very easy to care for and need little attention apart from the removal of spent flowers and a light trim every couple of years to keep shape. Although fully hardy they are best in a sheltered spot as young foliage can be damaged by severe frost and high winds. Plant in borders or large patio pots. Best in acidic soil, in containers use ericaceous compost.
