The splendid tayberry is a hybrid plant resulting from a cross between raspberries and blackberries - they bear some resemblance to both its parents. The deep red fruit resemble large blackberries but are sweeter and more aromatic and can be enjoyed picked straight from the bush when they ripen in late summer - to get the best flavour wait until the berries are really deep red before picking. Grow in a sunny spot trained on a trellis, fence or best of all on wires against a sunny wall and you'll be picking pounds of fruit every year.
