Designer's Gouaches consist of a range of opaque watercolours, used primarily by designers, illustrators and commercial artists looking to create vivid illustrations. Offering a spectrum of 89 colors chosen for their color trends (shade), coloring power and relative opacity, the range includes bright colors that resist light well. All Designer's gouaches are intermixable. An opaque watercolour can be mixed with a Winsor & Newton watercolour for a matte, flat effect. The opacity of Designer's gouaches is due to the exceptionally high level of pigmentation of its formulation, which gives it a covering power and a clear colour mixture. The natural qualities of each pigment also play a role in opacity and contribute to the degree of coverage. Its high level of pigmentation as well as the binder gum arabic give Designer's gouache a matte finish. This reduces reflection when photographing a work painted with gouache.
