Please don't be concerned; no Diatoms were harmed in the process. Diatoms are made up of a natural material called silica, which when combined with their microscopic size creates a particularly abrasive powder that is completely non-toxic and has a variety of helpful features, particularly as a natural, safe insect exterminator.
