Young babies are naturally soothed by the action of sucking and you may find that a dummy can help comfort them when they’re not feeding. This desire to suck is a comfort mechanism and will decrease over time, as your baby develops other ways to soothe. The orthodontic teat stays soft and retains its shape thanks to the Wee Air system, this helps the baby’s tongue to stay in its natural position, promoting healthy palate development and teeth growth. The shield prevents irritation to the area around the baby’s mouth, creating a comforting experience. We have a range of sizes available; choose from dummies 0-6 months, dummies 6-18 months, or 18 months +. Alternatively, upgrade your baby's dummy to the next age range as they get older. Cleaning the Wee Baby dummies is a simple process and they can be safely steralised. Especially in the first weeks of life, babies are very susceptible to pathogens, which can accumulate on dummies. Therefore, it is important to sterilise dummy parts regularly to ensure optimal hygiene, even if the dummy looks clean. Having a clean dummy is different to having a sterilised one. As already mentioned, once the child is over six months old, sterilising a dummy daily is no longer necessary. You can simply clean it with washing up liquid and rinse it thoroughly under running water – be sure to remove any dish soap residue. If you want, you can also pour hot water over the dummy, but let the dummy cool down before giving it to your baby. Air flow holes in shield prevents irritation to the area around the baby’s mouth.
