LIVER-Screen is a very innovative rapid test for the detection of transaminases (Alanine Transaminase (ALT) and Aspartate Transaminase (AST)) in whole blood. Transaminases are enzymes being present in several tissues (heart, kidney, muscles...) and especially in liver and their levels could increase in many hepatic diseases such as viral or alcoholic hepatitis, cirrhosis, hepatomas or cholestatic disease. These enzymes are usually assayed through clinical chemistry which requires a blood collection in laboratory. The LIVER-Screen test is the first test ever manufactured allowing the qualitative immunological assessment of transaminases further more being usable at home. A positive result indicates a level is nearly twice higher than normal values (> 80 UI /L; Nle 6-40UI/L), either for ALT or AST or for both enzymes. The ALT and AST levels are assessed within 10 minutes using only one whole blood drop thanks to the appearance of two differentiated red lines (in case of positive result). A blue control line also appears indicating that the test has been well performed.
