Allocations include all the necessary nutrients and are ready to eat, hot or cold. Warm of course tastes better. ;-) Within a few minutes, you’ll have prepared a hot, good tasting meal with many nutrients and calories. What is a MRE? MRE is a complete EPA ration in tough, waterproof packaging. The packaging has been designed to resist tough conditions and the elements. Each pack has one main meal and many other foods and drinks. At present, there are 24 different menus / variations of MREs. What is in a MRE? A MRE mainly contains the following: *Main meal - the main food, e.g. Spaghetti, beef stew or vegetarian dishes. *Spread - Peanut Butter, Jam, or Melted Cheese. *Sweets - M&Ms, Skittles, or Tootsie Rolls. *Dessert - Pastries or cakes. *Sharp sauce or spice. *Flame-free heater for the food. *Cookies or bread. *Drinks - Isotonic drinks, cocoa, milk shakes, coffee, tea. *Accessories - Fork, Salt, Sugar, Bubblegum, toilet paper... How do you eat a MRE? As in the name, the MREs are "ready to eat” and everything can be eaten without cooking or heating. Food you can enjoy cold, but it tastes better when heated with the flame-free heater or in hot water. Directions Open the pouch. If you want to heat the meal, use the flame-free heater included in the package. Otherwise, the meal can be eaten cold.
