Product description What is Uric Acid? Uric acid is a chemical that's produced during the digestion of certain foods and the natural breakdown of cells in the body. An increased amount of uric acid in the urine often indicates gout , which is a common form of arthritis. Why do I need this test? You may need this test if your healthcare provider wants to see if you have high levels of uric acid in your blood. Your healthcare provider may advise this test if you have symptoms of gout, although most people with hyperuricemia don't develop gout. How do you perform the test? 1. Obtain a urine sample in a clean container 2. Dip the strip into the urine up to the test area for no more than two seconds. 3. Draw the edge of the strip along the brim of the vessel to remove excess urine. 4. Compare the colours of the reagent pads exactly after 60 seconds with the colour chart on the product label.
