The Char Mitrailleur FT-17 was the basic FT-17 with an 8mm Hotchkiss M1914 machine gun replacing the 37mm Puteaux short barrel gun. The FT-17 saw service initially in WWI on 31st May 1918 in the Forest of Retz and was considered a light tank designed to accompany infantry. By 1939 the French still had 1,600 FT-17's in their army and these saw service again in the defence of France in 1940 against the German Blitzkreig tactics. Mostly re-used by the Germans for internal security duties most FT-17's ended up (well the turrets at least) as part of the Seigfried line. Some were also encountered by the Allies in the North African campaign in 1941-1942. These are very basic kits which make them ideal for the novice, the wargamer or the modeller who enjoys playing with conversions. There are 7 pieces to each kit, 2 track units, left hull, right hull, turret, Hotchkiss MG and turret hatch. However, it's easy enough to add little touches which make these kits look extremely realistic once completed.
