Product description
Product description """Professional grade pre-vulcanised compounded casting and moulding latex for use in the creation of high quality, high performance, moulds, masks, and models as well as for use in theatrics, SFX and various Arts and Crafts applications. The high solids content of over 60% permits the reproduction of the finest detail. Low ammonia, skin-safe* (*Read label), with a long storage life the latex can be poured brushed or dipped. High stability, easy to use, and can be coloured using normal acrylic paints. Vulcanisation is a chemical process in which the latex is heated with sulphur, accelerator and activator at 140 160ยฐC. The process involves the formation of cross-links between long rubber molecules so as to achieve improved elasticity, resilience, tensile strength, viscosity, hardness and weather resistance. Although (dried) latex will naturally vulcanize if left at room temperature over time the pre-vulcanisation removes any delay in the mould making process and makes the latex easier to use. . Thickening. Some applications can benefit from the application of the latex in slightly thicker layers and this can be achieved by using a Trustleaf thixotropic (thickening) agent to the latex prior to use. . Simply add the thickener to your latex at a rate of between 1% and 5%, stir it and brush on to the mould. We recommend introducing the thickener after doing one or two layers using un-thickened latex. . The thickening liquid thickens latex approximately 3 times. An alternative thickener is Trustleaf latex thickening powder, 50g is equivalent to approximately 0.5 to 1 litres of liquid thickener, but much thicker latex can be achieved. . Storage. The product should always be stored away from UV For the creation of flexible self-release moulds. Easy to use. Our latex is of the highest quality with a minimum 60%+ Rubber Solids.""" Directions 1. Store the product away from UV light. 2. If thicker latex is required, add a thixotropic agent to the latex prior to use. 3. Brush or pour the latex onto the mould. 4. Heat the latex with sulphur, accelerator and activator at 140โ160ยฐC to vulcanize it. Safety Warning May cause irritation to skin and eyes. May cause (*) allergic or asthmatic symptoms or breathing difficulties if inhaled. If affected seek medical attention.
