About this item
- SOW INDOORS: January - April. HARVEST: June โ October. APPROX SEEDS: 70
- INDOOR PLANTING: Sow seeds 1.5cm deep in pots or trays of moist compost, do not over-water. Store in a warm location at an approx. temperature of 18ยฐc (65ยฐf). When the seedlings are approx. 6' high, transfer to larger pots and reduce the temperature to 16ยฐc (60ยฐf). The plants can be moved to an unheated glasshouse in April or hardened off and planted out from June. Support the plants if needed. Limit each plant to 4-5 trusses & pinch out the sideshoots. Feed regularly with a tomato feed.
- TOMATO MONEYMAKER - Solanum lycopersicum L. 'Moneymaker' is a well-known perennial tomato variety that reliably produces plenty of smooth, round, medium-size fruit throughout the summer. Due to its half-hardy nature, this cultivar is best grown as an annual plant. Tomato 'Moneymaker' has exceptional flavour, and is a much-loved garden variety today. It can continue to grow all summer, resulting in a long season of plenty of fresh tomatoes!
- SUNLIGHT: Place in a position of full sun. SOIL: Well-draining soil. Tomatoes are heavy feeders, so they require a high nutrient fertiliser for optimal fruit production. Ideally use a fertiliser with a balanced ratio of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium
- PRUNING: To encourage optimal amount of fruit from your tomato plant - cut off any shoots that start growing between the main stem and the smaller leaf stems. Also remove any vertical growth beyond 6 or 7 fruit-bearing trusses. Although it may seem counterintuitive to deliberately curtail growth, youโll be helping the plant to allocate its resources and energy to developing the healthiest and tastiest fruits on its main stems.
