• Wild Chicory is a lovely addition to any garden and has been cultivated for over 5000 years as a medicinal and food plant. A flowering perennial plant that is easy to grow from seed producing lots of star-like pale blue flowers that are extremely attractive to bees and other pollinating insects.
• Perfect for a sunny garden border, wildlife garden or cut flower border with flowers from June onwards, regular cutting will prolong the flowering season. Good vase life.
• Hardy perennial that is easy to grow from seed. Can be sown directly in a well prepared soil that has been raked to a fine tilth. Sow in drills (rows) if growing for cut flowers or for a more natural look scatter thinly and lightly rake to cover. Water regularly especially in dry conditions.
• Sow August to October OR March to May. Autumn sown chicory is more likely to flower the following summer than spring sown seed which usually flowers in its second year.
• Prefers a fertile soil in a sunny position and is suitable for mixing with other seeds to create wildlife gardens. Will self seed.
