The Ravilious Rivers and Ponds Collection features River Thames at Hammersmith, Cuckmere Haven, and Newt Pond. These three watercolours bring to life three very different aquatic environments – the wide, deep river Thames, the wonderful oxbow river at Cuckmere Haven, and the mirror-like ‘Newt Pond’. The first is one of his few illustrations of the capital, where-as Cuckmere Haven in Sussex, and the Newt Pond in Great Bardfield depict territories which influenced his art enormously.
