2/3A SECONDARY TELEPHONE EXTENSION SOCKET These are the smaller type of extension socket that are almost always surface-mounted. These do not fit a standard UK single back box but they are the standard BT extension socket size. Simply Mount the back box, decide on the cable entry position and break out a corresponding tab for the cable to enter the back box. Leave the cable about 6 to 8 inches long stripping back the outer PVC to reveal the inner cores. There is no need to strip the insulation on the inner cores. Lay the ends of the inner cores over the corresponding numbered IDC block before pressing them down with the tool, noting that the longer tip of the tool should be positioned towards the centre of the socket. Double check to make sure that every wire was successfully inserted to the bottom of the IDC connector and ensuring that none of them make an arch up and over the IDC cutters.
