Sweet Pea ‘King Size Royal Navy’ from the Kew Flowerhouse Seed Collection produces rich, inky navy-blue blooms with a luxurious ruffled form and an exceptional, heady fragrance. Developed in collaboration with Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, this premium variety has been selected for its strong garden performance and outstanding cut flower qualities, making it ideal for both garden displays and indoor arrangements. Each strong stem carries multiple large blooms, creating a generous and long-lasting display throughout the flowering season. With its elegant colouring and long, slender stems, it is perfect for climbing supports, arches, or obelisks, and pairs beautifully with softer pastel varieties for contrast in the garden or vase. Approximate height: 180cm (71in). Approximate spread: 30cm (12in). How to Grow Sow: Sow indoors in October or outdoors from March to April. For indoor sowing, plant 3 seeds per 7.5cm pot at 1cm depth in free-draining compost. Light: Full sun for best flowering performance. Temperature: Hardy annual; protect young plants from extreme cold when overwintering indoors or in a cold frame. Watering: Keep compost moist but not waterlogged during germination and establishment. Feeding: Enrich soil before planting; regular feeding during growth improves flowering and stem strength. Maintenance: Pinch out growing tips after the second pair of leaves to encourage bushy growth. Train plants onto supports and tie in as they grow.
