Stroft GTP type S. GTP type S braided line as smooth as a monofilament The "S" stands for extra Smooth", i.e. smooth. And if you let this cord glide through your fingers, you will hardly feel any difference to a monofilament in terms of surface smoothness. This line is also a pure braided, without coating (coating), which would be known to roughen or rub off after a short time and make the line unusable. This smoothness is achieved by the use of an extremely fine UHMWPE fibre in combination with a braiding process, in which the individual fibres are divided and intertwined into a significantly larger number of strands than it was previously possible. This multi-strand process also increases the braiding angles. The fibres are bent slightly less strongly than the type R - with the same roundness, compactness and inner strength. This results in even higher tensile strengths for the type S. And, of course, with this even finer braid (as with type R), the production of the spliced loop is possible, with which you can fully utilise the high tensile strength. Unfortunately, the very fine UHMWPE fibres and the braiding process with many strands also have a proud price. Nevertheless, this type S will be used if only the very best material is good enough.
