A fast, sharp, 50mm F1.4 prime lens. This high-performance ZEISS 50mm prime lens features a large F1.4 maximum aperture as well as spectacular contrast and resolution throughout every image. The large aperture makes it easier to shoot in low light and, in combination with an 11-blade aperture design, can produce gorgeous bokeh. Other benefits include fast, precise focus and versatile control for stills and movies. Two aspherical elements, including one AA (advanced aspherical) element, plus ED glass elements maintain high resolution and contrast at all apertures, from corner to corner. A ring drive SSM (Super Sonic wave Motor) system positions the lens’s heavy focus group with speed and precision, bringing out the best in high-resolution camera bodies. A physical aperture ring allows intuitive aperture control. An aperture click switch makes it possible to enable or disable the aperture ring click stops as required. Moviemakers will want the clicks OFF, while photographers often prefer tactile click feedback. There’s also a focus mode switch for convenient manual/auto focus selection. Depending on the type of lens used, the Zoom function can be called up differently. When using Powered zoom lenses - the Zoom function can be called up by sliding the zoom lever on the lens. When using Manual zoom lenses and Prime lenses - the Zoom function can be called up by going through the Menu and under the Camera Settings or by assigning the Zoom function to one of the customizable buttons. The assigned button must be pressed each time the Zoom function will be used. The default setting for the Zoom Setting is Optical zoom only. The default setting for Image Size is Large. To use the smart zoom change Image Size to Medium or Small. Zoom functions other than the optical zoom are not available when shooting in the following situations: Sweep Panorama, Smile/Face Detect. is set to Smile Shutter, Image Quality is set to RAW or RAW & JPEG, Image Record Setting is set to 120p 50M/100p 50M. You cannot use the Smart Zoom function with movies. When a power zoom lens is mounted, you cannot use Zoom under MENU. If you enlarge image past the optical zoom range, the product automatically switches to another Zoom function than the optical zoom. When you use a Zoom function other than the optical zoom, Metering Mode is fixed to Multi. When you use another zoom function than the optical zoom, the following functions are not available: Face Detection Lock-on Auto Focus, Image Auto Object Framing.
