The history behind it: we can always learn something from the past.40, 50 years ago, nothing was wasted in households.This philosophy is the basis for our knitted wiping cloth and other products by Solwang Design.My Grandma turned old yarn remnants into wiping cloths, which she knitted.These accompanied my sister and me through our childhood and youth.When we finally moved out, we still loved Grandma’s products.Some were better than others, depending on which yarn had been used.The colour design was new and beautiful time and time again.In her final years, my Grandma bought the yarn, just to have something to knit for us and to delight us with her creations.There were now single-coloured cloths and those which suited our kitchens, which was a kind of highlight of her work.When my Grandma was no longer with us, we couldn’t find a replacement for the wiping cloths.Efficiency and functionality, combined with colourful beauty, were the prerequisites for the replacement.So I set to work myself, knitting first for myself, then for friends, who were always thrilled when they received knitted wiping cloths, designed by me, as a little present.The idea for an own line was born.The time for handicrafts is usually brief, however, the demand for beautiful and at the same time functional items is great.The production of wiping cloths and towels by Solwang Design uses knitting machines - however, the finish is always by hand.The quality matches that of my dear Grandma - absorbency, service life and durability are wonderful.This is the thinking behind all textiles by Solwang Design.
