A smoke alarm helps to save lives A smoke alarm alerts you so that you can respond quickly to potentially life-threatening situations. It is important to know that smoke detectors have a maximum lifetime of 10 years, therefore you should always check the date on your smoke detector and buy a ew one every 10 years to be sure you have correctly working smoke detectors. Choose the right smoke alarmThe Smartwares smoke alarm is equipped with an optical sensor that reacts fast to smoldering fires, has less false alarms and is better than an ionization smoke detector. The battery of the SA68B Smoke detector has a 1 year lifetime and the sensor has a maximum lifetime of 10 years. The low battery indicator alerts you with a sound if your battery needs to be replaced. The smoke alarm is equipped with a hush mode that can be used to mute the alarm if a false alarm sounds. Fully connectable smoke alarmThe SA68B Smoke alarm can be connected wirelessly with similar smoke alarms. This way all connected smoke detectors will go off at the same time, so you will be warned throughout the building. The wireless smoke detectors can be used up to 75 metres from the main unit of your alarm system. InstallationTo be sure you will get warned when a fire breaks out it is recommended to place at least one smoke alarm on every floor. We recommend to place smoke alarms in the spaces you pass when exiting the building, for example in your hallway or stairs. Smoke rises and therefore it is important to always mount your smoke alarm on the ceiling. This can be done easily by using the screws or a magnetic mounting plate. The Smartwares smoke alarms are wireless which allows you to place them anywhere at home. Thanks to the security pin you can only mount the alarm when the battery is inserted. Maintenance The functionality of the smoke alarm can be influenced by dust and dirt. It is therefore important to clean your smoke alarm monthly by using a slightly damp cloth and twice a year with a vacuum cleaner. You should never use cleaning products or paint the smoke alarm. Test your alarms It is important to check your smoke alarm on a regular base with the testing button. The smoke alarm should be tested monthly in order to be assured that it is working correctly if a fire occurs. You will hear a short beep if the battery is running low, this way you are alerted when you need to replace the battery.
