Prior to SynScan V3.01 the handcontroller had to be placed in a special "serial mode" for this to work. From SynScan V3.01 onwards the handcontroller is always in serial mode, and is always ready to talk with a serial connection. In this mode the SynScan unit provides the alignment and goto algorithms and must be configured with time, date and location.
