Why is this test important to me? It is estimated that over half the world's population is infected by the stomach bacterium Helicobacter pylori. "H.pylori" causes conditions such as gastritis and ulcers. Untreated long term infections cause damage to the mucous membrane of the stomach and those infected with this bacterium have an increased risk of ulcers and developing stomach cancer. However, in most cases, h.pylori can be treated successfully using a combination of antibiotics and antacids. NOTE: If you have already been infected with H.pylori in the past and the infection was eliminated using antibiotics, this test may yield a positive reading even more than one year following treatment, although the infection is no longer present. How do I perform this test? Requires only one finger prick drop of blood and the result can be read in just a few minutes. Full instructions for use enclosed. When do I perform this test? This test can be performed quickly at any time of day. No dietary instructions are necessary before performing the test.
