FX-800 hot melt Seam Sealing Tape 50mm width (160 micron thickness) is used for repairs and sealing seams on Polyurethane (PU) Coated Waterproof Fabrics - leisurewear, sportswear, military uniforms, protective clothing for public service / utilities, tents, covers, ground sheets, boat hoods etc. We have been successfully supplying our products to manufacturers of high performance waterproof products throughout the world since 1985. The Tape gives excellent sealing results on a wide range of PU waterproof coated / laminated breathable textiles. It consists of 2 layers – a non thermoplastic PU film and a specially developed hot melt adhesive with excellent flow characteristics for ease of application and high performance (the adhesive is on the inner side of the tape as it is removed from the roll). In this case the temperature needs to be set on a medium / medium hot setting - the dwell time is the important factor and this can only be determined by experimentation – suggest in the region of 5-7 seconds with pressure applied. Ideally apply the FX-800 Tape to a small piece of waste fabric first to test adhesion strength - after test application and allowing time for cooling pull the tape back and you should feel a resistance and normally the tape should remove some of the waterproof coating. A light weight release paper (greaseproof - non-stick side down) should be used between the heated surface and the tape to avoid damage to the tape / fabric and to prevent it sticking to the iron or press.
