Product Description Capable of accommodating a range of larger, heavier LDC microphones typically found in the world's top recording studios, Rycote's USM-VB makes use of patented, vibration-resistant Lyre technology. Specially-designed Lyres are placed around a central mounting ring with adjustable fasteners, allowing the USM-VB to securely hold a variety of industry-standard Large Diaphragm Condenser mics. Elasticated components are completely omitted, and modern materials are used to create a virtually indestructible shock-mount with a performance that far outstrips older designs. In controlled tests in Rycote's R&D facilities, the USM provided up to twice the isolation of traditional microphone suspension systems. In 1969, Rycote introduced the world’s first microphone windshield system for location sound and electronic news-gathering (ENG). Rycote has since been honoured with a Technical Achievement Award from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences, and continue to set the standard for professional microphone wind shielding and handling noise reduction.
