Product description
Runner Bean ‘Moonlight’ is a breakthrough British-bred variety specially developed to produce reliable harvests in almost any weather. Awarded the RHS Award of Garden Merit, this vigorous climbing runner bean combines the best qualities of runner beans and French beans, producing long, smooth, stringless pods with excellent flavour and texture. Its attractive white flowers are largely self-setting, helping ensure earlier and heavier crops even during cooler or unsettled summers. Perfect for garden beds, allotments, wigwams, and climbing supports, ‘Moonlight’ produces fleshy pods up to 25cm long on tall, productive plants that continue cropping throughout the season. Easy to grow and highly dependable, this variety is ideal for both beginner and experienced gardeners looking for reliable homegrown harvests. Approximate height: 3m (10ft). Approximate spread: 30cm (12in). How to Grow Sow: Sow indoors from mid April or direct sow outdoors from late May to early July. Sow seeds 5cm deep in pots or directly into warm, well-drained soil. Light: Full sun or light semi-shade in a sheltered position. Temperature: Half-hardy annual; protect young plants from frost and cold winds. Watering: Water regularly, especially while flowers and pods are developing. Feeding: Apply a liquid feed every two weeks during summer for improved cropping. Maintenance: Provide sturdy canes, netting, or wigwam supports for climbing plants. Pinch out growing tips once plants reach the top of supports to encourage pod production. 2 Packets (80 Seeds Total) Images shown are for guidance only and show the expected results of plants upon maturity. Different growing conditions might vary results. Image may be included for illustration of supply but can vary due to seasonality changes (e.g. deciduous plants lose leaves in colder months). Decorative pots are not supplied.
