• This hood is water repellent so shower proof and will protect your horse or pony from the worst of the mud, wind and wet. Please note though, it is not fully waterproof due to the nature of the fabric

Following many requests we have re-introduced to the range the Ruggles turnout hood with zip and ears. This hood is water repellent so shower proof and will protect your horse or pony from the worst of the mud, wind and wet. Due to the warmth provided from this hood, the need for a neck cover is reduced. There is a robust zipper from chin to chest which helps with putting the hood on and off and there is a Velcro closure at nose for extra security. The hoods all come with ears as standard. Between the front legs is a shaped strap made from the same robust but stretchy fabric which joins into an adjustable girth strap with clip fastening. The turnout hood is machine washable - we would recommend on a cool/warm wash with a non-biological product and allow to dry naturally. Packed in a zipped bag which is ideal for storage when the hood is not in use. When fitting the hood to your horse, we would recommend that you encourage your horse to put muzzle to the ground in the grazing position to check that the eyes are not compromised and that the hood is not too loose on the face. There are currently three sizes in the range and a guide below is based on rug size. It is good for the vast majority but if your horse is particularly fine/chunky you may need to adjust.
