Ronseal Chalky Furniture Paint gives furniture, doors and cupboards a chalky flat matt finish. It doesn't need to be buffed, and it doesn’t need a wax or lacquer to protect it. Make sure the room is warm and above 10°C. Open doors or windows for extra ventilation. To prepare bare wood, use 120 grit sandpaper and lightly sand in the direction of the woodgrain. This will give you a smooth surface to help the paint adhere well. Let the dust settle and wipe it up with white spirit and a cloth. To prepare painted wood that’s in a good condition, just lightly sand it with 240 grit sandpaper to help the chalk paint stick. If the paint is in a poor condition and is flaking off, you need to sand back to the bare wood with 120 grit sandpaper and an electric sander. Let the dust settle and wipe it up with white spirit and a cloth. Thoroughly stir the paint to make sure the colour pigments are mixed. Apply a first coat using a synthetic brush and paint in the direction of the woodgrain. Wait four hours for the coat to dry. Apply a second coat and it will be touch dry in only 30 minutes.
