UV filters are one of the optical lens attachments that are still used today. Mainly the special filters ensure that the ultraviolet content in sunlight is specifically blocked and cannot lead to unwanted colour distortion. The UV light invisible to human eyes can also have a slight disturbing effect on image sharpness – especially with very strong detail magnifications. In addition, a UV filter also has concrete mechanical advantages – due to its otherwise image-neutral properties, it can remain permanently on the lens and protects the expensive optics from damage. The Rollei premium round filter UV comes in nine different lens diameters: with 49, 52, 55, 58, 62, 67, 72, 77 and 82 mm, this high-quality round filter protects the windscreen against mechanical stress, scratches, dirt and sand. The Gorilla glass from the well-known specialist manufacturer Corning Inc. from the US state of New York already enjoys a legendary reputation and is used for high-quality electronics and photo products. By taking an extremely hot bath in a specially mixed liquid, the ions are exchanged at the molecular level - and give the glass an extreme resistance. Even with a deep scratch, there are no material chips at the edges, further impairment of the filter surface is safely prevented.
