Angie Harmon (Law & Order) and Sasha Alexander (NCIS) co-star as Boston detective Jane Rizzoli and medical examiner Maura Isles, close friends and complete opposites who, together, solve some of Boston's most notorious crimes. Jane is a blue-collar Boston native with an uncompromisingly brash and beautiful bull-in-a-china shop approach to both cases and life. Maura, raised by affluent, educated, globe-trotting parents, is a quirky combination of a science nerd and an elegantly chic girly girl. The drama series also features the seasoned and lovable Detective Vince Korsak, Rizzoli's former partner who was initially hurt to find Jane now partnered with the computer savvy but squeamish Detective Barry Frost; Frankie Rizzoli Jr., Jane's younger brother and a Boston patrol officer who hopes to follow in her footsteps as a detective; Lieutenant Detective Sean Cavanaugh, whose knowledge of the hardscrabble back alleys of Boston and history as a detective make him the perfect choice to head the Homicide unit; and Jane's nosy but warm-hearted mother Angela Rizzoli (The Sopranos' Lorraine Bracco), who moved into Maura's guesthouse after her recent divorce.
