Product description

Pyracantha ‘Firelight’ is a hardy evergreen shrub celebrated for its dazzling clusters of bright orange berries that illuminate the autumn and winter garden. Its rich green foliage provides a striking backdrop to these “jewel-like” berries, making it a much-needed splash of colour during colder months. This resilient shrub has a low, mounding habit but can also be trained as a dense hedge or wall shrub. The thorny stems make it an excellent security barrier, deterring intruders effectively. In early summer, Pyracantha ‘Firelight’ produces clusters of delicate white flowers loved by pollinators. The berries that follow provide a valuable food source for birds, making this an excellent choice for wildlife gardens. The shrub grows to between 50cm and 100cm (20-39in) in height and spread. How to Grow: Plant Pyracantha ‘Firelight’ in any well-drained, reliably moist soil, in full sun or partial shade. It prefers a sheltered position, protected from cold, drying winds. It can be grown as a free-standing shrub, trained as a hedge, or grown against walls and fences. More Info: Water and feed regularly until fully established. Prune free-standing shrubs in early spring by removing damaged or poorly placed shoots. When trained against a wall, tie in the main shoots to form a strong framework and cut back to maintain shape. Caution: The berries are harmful if eaten. Images shown are for guidance only and show the expected results of plants upon maturity. Different growing conditions might vary results. Image may be included for illustration of supply but can vary due to seasonality changes (e.g. deciduous plants lose leaves in colder months). Decorative pots are not supplied.
