Pure natural tung oil, also known as Chinese wood oil, and made from the pressed seed of the Chinese hazel. It gives a better finish compared to linseed oil, which leaves a surface film and degrades and darkens over time. China wood oil has a clear smooth finish, low gloss that penetrates and nourishes the wood, before protecting and providing a durable and robust water resistant barrier. Known for its long-term elastic properties, tung oil is able to move and flex as the wooden surface and furniture expand and contract with age and temperature change. Tung oil is naturally resistant to water, food and alcohol. It is safe for food contact when dry and can be used for salad bowls and cutting boards. It is EN71 certified for toy safety. Easy to work with and maintain, pure Chinese tung oil is extremely versatile and can be used on almost any wooden surface, including indoor and outdoor furniture, skirting boards, doors, children's playgrounds, food preparation areas and kitchen worktops, etc. Surface preparation. Ensure surfaces are clean and dry. Not suitable for varnished or sealed wood. Best applied with a lint-free cloth. Two first layers diluted on new woods 50:50 with White Spirit to promote absorption. Use a circular or eight-shaped pattern to work on wood until it stops absorbing. Leave on for 20 minutes and then wipe off all excess. Apply one or two undiluted coats in a similar way. Wait 24 hours between layers. Leave to dry for up to 4 days. Pure tung oil is a natural product and contains no artificial drying agents. Coverage: 10 to 15 m². per layer.
