Prunus serrula, commonly known as the Tibetan cherry, is a highly ornamental mature tree prized for its exceptional decorative bark. Its smooth, glossy mahogany-red trunk peels in layers to reveal luminous copper tones beneath, creating year-round visual interest even in winter. In spring, delicate white flowers emerge, attracting pollinators before giving way to fine green foliage that turns golden yellow in autumn. This mature specimen tree is ideal for instant impact in gardens, providing structure, height, and architectural beauty from day one. Its upright, rounded form makes it perfect as a focal point, avenue feature, or specimen planting in larger borders. Hardy and adaptable, it delivers multi-season interest with minimal maintenance once established. HOW TO GROW Light: full sun or light partial shade for best bark colour and flowering Temperature: fully hardy in UK conditions; tolerates cold winters Watering: keep well watered until established; water during dry spells Feeding: apply mulch or slow-release fertiliser in spring Humidity: no special humidity requirements Images shown are for guidance only and show the expected results of plants upon maturity.
