This type of statue can be placed both indoors and outdoors. Did you know that? Santa Rosalia became patron saint of Palermo in 1666 with official worship extended to all Sicily. In 1624, while in Palermo the plague decimated the people, the spirit of Rosalia appeared in a dream to a sick person, and then to a hunter. Rosalia pointed to him the way to find his relics, asking him to take them in procession around the city.
