Furniture glides, also known as chair glides, are designed to protect delicate floors such as parquet, laminate, or tiles from scratches, pressure marks, and signs of wear caused by moving furniture. These glides are attached to the underside of furniture legs and can be glued, screwed, or nailed depending on the type. Self-adhesive glides are suitable for metal furniture or pieces that remain mostly stationary, while screw-on glides are ideal for frequently moved items like chairs and stools. Different materials serve different purposes: Teflon glides work well on carpets and rough floors due to their durability and smooth movement, while felt glides are best for smooth, hard surfaces.
